The Mobile Design feature optimizes an app for viewing on a mobile device.

We strongly recommend that before designing the mobile app you should complete the desktop app design including layout, behaviors, workflow and access rules.

A mobile app consists of pages that contain one or more sections. A section groups app objects that can be positioned and moved as a single entity. App objects may also be re-positioned within a section.

You can optimize the Mobile Design for viewing on a phone in portrait mode (One Column), a phone in landscape mode (Two Columns), or a tablet (Two Columns).

Due to screen limitations, mobile app design should be simple and concise. To optimize mobile usability, try to limit the number of pages, sections and objects.

Click the mobile icon Universal - Mobile Icon to open the mobile designer. The Mobile App Wizard will be triggered the first time you open the designer or when you open it after a new object has been added.

In the mobile app wizard, you can:

Step 1: Create and Name Sections

Step 2: Add Objects to Sections

Step 3: Select One or Two Column Layout

Step 4: Preview the Mobile App Design

Otherwise clicking on the mobile icon will open Mobile App Layout mode directly.

Optimizing the app for mobile device viewing will not impact how the app is viewed on a laptop or PC.

The Mobile design needs attention icon indicates that the mobile design requires attention. This would normally be the result of a new object being added to your app after the mobile app has been configured.
